For the past few years (maybe two or three) I haven't done anything extravagant to celebrate my special day. A lot of my friends go all out for theirs - bottle service at clubs, strippers, beach day, etc etc. But I was never one for all that glitz and glam. I'm a quiet and somber person, so I usually spend my birthday the same way.
Me at Lips NYC for my 22nd birthday.
At first I was a bit ashamed of this - not having an over the top celebration like everyone else. But at this point in my life, I've come to terms with it. And I'm quiet content with the idea of staying in and just chilling out. If I were to do something, it'd be a simple lunch date or walk through the park with one or two of my closest friends. That is fun for me - being around people I care about and just enjoying the time with them. I don't need eight bottles of Patron and an angry bar fight to make me feel like I actually did something for my birthday.
