I've said this before, and I will say it again - I have oily skin. So I tend to look for products to help me combat that, whether it's blotting sheets, mattefiers, setting powders, etc. I wanted to try out MAC's Blotting Powder, but soon realized this was not the fix for me.
First off, the color selection is a tad…limited. There's only a few shades to chose from if you have a deeper skin tone, and Deep Dark, the one closest to my shade is extremely cool. And by "extremely cool", I really mean ashy as ashy can get. And I always hear of people claiming blotting powders add no "real" color to your face, and don't alter your makeup - that is not the case with this powder. It ends up adding that ashy look to my face, and contrasts with the already warm tone I have. No good at all.
As far as the actual oil controlling, it did a decent job while it was on me. Lasted for a few hours, but to be honest, I was so concerned with how dark and ashy my face looked, my oilyness was the least of my worries.
If there's a shade that's closer to your skintone, I'm sure you'd get a kick out of this powder. For me, on the other hand, I'd rather be oily than grey-tone and ashy, thankyouverymuch.
what color are you in MAC normally?
ReplyDeleteI'm either an NW43 or an NW45, usually the latter though.
