What It’s Supposed To Do:
The antibacterial effects of lime and the trace of alcohol in the product is ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes. The minerals in sea salt soften as the salt scrubs away dirt and blockages. What It Does For Me:
Ocean Salt comes from Rowena's love of all things scrubby. It's like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water, then cleansing and refreshing it with lemon, grapefruit and lime juices.
Fresh avocado and coconut give hydration back to thirsty skin, while violet leaf absolute calms and nurtures.
The fruit contains unsaturated oil that rehydrates skin. Both avocado and coconut soothe the upper layers of skin and are very good for dryness.
I’ve always
been one to pretty much to stick to what I know when it comes to (facial)
skincare. I have sensitive skin and am sort of afraid to try out new things on
my face. After religiously using MAC’s Volcanic Ash Exfoliator, I remember that
it’s limited edition and I needed to find something to switch up with. Ocean
Salt was on my list of must-try products.
The first
thing that threw me off with Ocean Salt was its smell. I know this sounds
weird, but I get a strong smell of…cigarette smoke when I sniff this. I know there’s
a ton of citrus fruits and things in this, but I really only smell a hint of
maybe the lime. Everything else is just pure ash to me.
Getting past
the smell, I absolutely love this. Whenever I use it, my skin is left feeling
soft as a baby’s bottom, brighter, and just has this glow to it. It doesn’t
leave it tight or dry at all. The salt granules aren’t too big or small, they’re
comfortably somewhere in the middle. So while it doesn’t feel too abrasive, it
also actually feels like I did something to my face, if that makes any sense. I exfoliate my face about once every two weeks
(maybe a week and a half if I feel like it)…I see it as pressing my skin’s imaginary
“reset” button. And it really does the job. I feel fresh, new, and revitalized
once I take this off.
Pros:
Leaves skin soft and brighter, not abrasive, doesn’t give skin
that tight/dry feeling.
Cons:
Smell.
Final Thoughts:
I will always love this scrub. I’ve repurchased it multiple times
and will continue to do so. It really is everything you could ask for in an
exfoliator, and you’ll notice the difference it makes as soon as you wash it
off.
